Prior to the devastating floods that hit Pakistan in 2010, KASB Foundation was already involved in the provision of hand pumps in the remote areas of Pakistan, where it installed it had already installed more then 500 hand pumps where clean water was a scarcity.
In the aftermath of the floods, an initiative was taken by KASB Foundation to urgently install more hand pumps in the districts of Hyderabad, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Shikarput, Khairpur Mirs, Kashmore & Jacobabad areas to prevent the spread of diseases through flood waters and to encourage healthier sanitation practices.
Together with a highly motivated team of volunteers being constantly supervised by KASB Foundation from the areas where this project is being implemented, 155 additional hand pumps have already been installed and a further 47 hand pumps will be installed within a months time.
KASB Foundation’s “Hand Pumps Project” will be a continuously running project for which regular surveys will be carried out in remote and hard to reach areas where there is a scarcity for clean water so that additional hand pumps can be installed there.
